PremiAir Racing has concluded its Townsville 500 campaign with a hard-fought performance in Sunday’s 200-kilometre Race 22, highlighted by Jayden Ojeda securing another top-10 finish and Declan Fraser showing plenty of determination to overcome adversity.
Qualifying began positively for the team, with Ojeda progressing through the three-part knockout format to earn a place in the Top Ten Shootout. Running used tyres for his shootout lap, Ojeda delivered an impressive 1:13.528 to secure 10th on the grid for the final race of the weekend.
Fraser narrowly missed progressing beyond Part 1 and lined up 25th for the 68-lap encounter.
The opening lap of Race 22 was interrupted by an incident that brought out the Safety Car, with Fraser capitalising on the early chaos to gain several positions. However, contact in the opening exchanges left the #222 Camaro with steering damage that progressively worsened throughout the race.
Despite the issue, Fraser refused to give in, digging deep across the full 200 kilometres to bring the car home in 21st position and collect valuable championship points for the team.
Starting from 10th, Ojeda settled into a consistent rhythm and remained firmly in the fight throughout the race. Supported by two flawless compulsory pit stops from the PremiAir Racing crew, he maintained his position to take the chequered flag in 10th, completing another strong weekend performance.
Strategy once again played a key role in the final race, with both Camaros completing the required two compulsory pit stops without issue. The PremiAir Racing crew delivered exceptional service all weekend, executing fast and consistent pit stops that kept both drivers in contention.
Away from Townsville, Team Owner Peter Xiberras was competing in the Clippy Cup Enduro at Sydney Motorsport Park. Sharing a Hyundai with his son, Christopher Xiberras, and Ferrari driver and TCR champion Josh Buchan, the trio enjoyed a successful outing, finishing fifth outright and second in class.
While Townsville presented its share of challenges, the team leaves North Queensland encouraged by Ojeda’s qualifying pace and race consistency, Fraser’s determined drive under difficult circumstances, and another faultless operational performance from the crew.
PremiAir Racing now turns its attention to the next round of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship in Perth.

“It was a tough day at the office for us. Qualifying didn’t go the way we wanted, but we made a really strong start to the race and picked up a lot of ground on the opening lap.
Unfortunately, we didn’t quite have the pace to hold onto those positions and slipped back through the pack as the race went on. It’s disappointing, but it is what it is, and we’ll take the lessons from it and move forward.
I’m still hungry for more, and I’m heading into Perth really keen to get after it and come back stronger.”
