Enduro season is here: Robbo previews the Sandown 500

It is that time of year once again – the endurance season is upon us, starting with this weekend’s Sandown 500 and concluding with the Bathurst 1000 next month at Mount Panorama.

We can’t wait to see our driving line-up temporarily expand for these next two events, with David Russell driving alongside Jimmy Golding, who is getting ready for his sixth Sandown 500 with a best result previously of 4th in 2017 – and Cameron McLeod joining Tim Slade, who is preparing for his 10th Sandown enduro start with a previous best of sixth in 2015.

This line-up gives us the best of both worlds – the opportunity to benefit from the wealth of experience of journeyman Russell, and the chance to give a leg up to an enthusiastic up and coming racer who will be making his main game debut off the back of an impressive Super2 campaign to date.

There is no arguing with what Russell brings to the table, with 40 Supercars races under his belt, including 2nd place at both of last year’s endurance races with reigning champ Brodie Kostecki. We are looking forward to having him as part of our team and able to provide an extra set of eyes to validate our strategies. This will be his ninth Sandown 500 start.

Meanwhile, ‘Cammie’ has been supported by PremiAir Nulon Racing throughout the Super2 season this year and has been turning heads for all the right reasons. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the table under the continuing mentorship of Slade as he makes his main game debut while at the same time, also contesting the Super2 races at Sandown.

We are also very excited to showcase our new livery – it was unveiled on the weekend and while I might be biased, I sure think it is a stunner! With a striking red and white theme, there will be no missing the #23 and #31 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaros as they race around Sandown International Raceway this weekend.

There’s no doubting the importance of the Sandown 500 as not only a prestigious event in its own right, especially as this year marks its 60th anniversary, but also as the precursor to the Bathurst 1000 – we are most definitely aiming to set a solid benchmark as we gear up for the big one at the Mountain.

Enduros are most certainly unique beasts which can throw anything at you, and we expect plenty of curveballs at Sandown this weekend – it wouldn’t be an enduro without them!

Our entire team has been working exceptionally hard in preparation to make sure we are as well prepared for what may come our way as possible, from our strategy to our tools and resources.

With our growing team in the garages and our promising driver line-up on the track, I am really feeling confident that we can bring a strong package to the table to hopefully bring home that breakthrough podium.
