When fans see a PremiAir Racing Supercar roll out of the garage, they’re looking at thousands of hours of engineering, fabrication and preparation. Every component has been designed, manufactured and assembled to incredibly tight tolerances because, at this level of motorsport, precision isn’t optional it’s essential.
One of the most important tools in our workshop is the KO Table.
For our fabricator, the KO Table provides the accuracy and consistency needed to build critical chassis components to exact specifications. It’s a perfectly flat surface and integrated measurement system to allow every part to be manufactured to the demanding standards required in Supercars competition.
Richard Bidwell, PremiAir Racing’s Team Fabricator, explains just how important that precision is.
“Our cars, when they’re finished and set up, ready to go in the truck, are half a millimetre perfect. They are so precise, and for us to get the cars precise, every component needs to be precise.
Take the front clip. It holds all the suspension, engine, radiators, everything, and it has to be half a millimetre perfect. It takes us a week to do one of these.
The only way we could do this is with a KO Table. The equipment is fantastic. Everything has its own measurements. There’re measurements all the way around the table. It’s precision. It’s dead flat. It’s perfect for what we do.”
The front clip is one of the most critical fabricated assemblies on the car. It forms the mounting point for the front suspension, cooling package, and engine, meaning every dimension must be exact. Even the smallest variation can affect the way the car performs, making accuracy during fabrication absolutely vital.
The KO Table gives Richard the confidence to build every assembly with repeatable precision. Its integrated measuring system allows components to be positioned, checked, and welded while maintaining the exact dimensions required throughout the build process.
At PremiAir Racing, performance isn’t just built on race weekends. It’s built every day in the workshop, where attention to detail, craftsmanship and the right equipment combine to produce race cars capable of competing at the highest level.
Before our drivers chase podiums on track, Richard Bidwell is already chasing perfection down to the last half millimetre.
