PremiAir Racing has wrapped up a challenging and character-building weekend at Queensland Raceway, with the team fighting hard through Sunday’s qualifying and 200-kilometre Race 28.
The final day at the Paperclip began with the two-part qualifying format, with the opening 12-minute session determining the top 18 to progress to Qualifying Part 2.
Both PremiAir Racing entries were right around the cut-off following their opening runs before returning to the garage for changes and fresh tyres ahead of a final attack.
Despite pushing until the chequered flag, neither car was able to progress, with Jayden qualifying 19th while Declan would start the afternoon’s race from 26th.
With 62 laps and 200 kilometres ahead, the focus quickly shifted to race pace, strategy and making progress through the field.
Declan made an impressive start, climbing five positions to P21 by lap five, while Jayden recovered from losing a couple of positions on the opening lap to settle into his rhythm and work his way forward.
The team committed to a two-stop strategy for both cars, with tyres and fuel playing an important role across the long race.
Declan was the first of the PremiAir Racing cars to make his opening stop, coming out of traffic on lap 10 for four tyres and fuel. The crew delivered a slick stop to send him straight back into the fight.
Jayden extended his opening stint before making his first visit to pit lane on lap 25, also taking four tyres and fuel as the crew continued a strong afternoon in pit lane.
His race suffered a setback when he spun while attempting a move on Andre Heimgartner, but he quickly recovered and continued the fight.
Jayden returned to pit lane on lap 46 for his final scheduled stop, taking four green tyres and enough fuel to run to the chequered flag, with the PremiAir Racing crew again executing strongly.
The pit crew delivered consistently throughout the afternoon, completing the team’s stops cleanly and efficiently as both cars continued to push forward.
The closing stages delivered a cruel twist for Declan. Running P17 with just one lap remaining, he ran out of fuel and ultimately crossed the line in P19.
Jayden completed the 200-kilometre race in P18.
While the results did not reflect the effort invested across the weekend, the team leaves Queensland Raceway having continued to fight through every session and right until the final lap of Sunday’s race.
PremiAir Racing will now regroup and turn its attention to the next event, determined to build on the lessons from a demanding weekend.

“Not a good weekend for us. We didn’t fulfil our potential, and we got involved in incidents on track that we simply shouldn’t have. That cost us penalties, time and ultimately compromised the weekend.
We’ll regroup, learn from it and make sure we do a better job when we get to the enduros.”

“That’s QR wrapped up, and unfortunately it wasn’t the round we were hoping for. I made a couple of errors in the race that ultimately cost us, so I owe a big apology to the team and all of our partners. We had opportunities there, and I didn’t quite maximise them.
“The positive is that the car was definitely more competitive in today’s race. We made some good progress with the balance over the course of the weekend and finished with a much faster package than where we started.
“It’s disappointing to miss out on what could have been a strong result, but we’ll take what we’ve learned from the weekend, tidy up my side of things and come back stronger next time.”
Declan Fraser – #777 PremiAir Racing Camaro
“Overall, there are some positives to take from the race. We were able to move forward and were running 17th before unfortunately running out of fuel at the final corner on the last lap, which cost us a few positions. That was obviously disappointing, but there was plenty to be encouraged by in the car.
“We changed the setup direction for that last race to bring the #777 a little closer to what some of the cars around us were doing, and it worked really well. I think we’ve found a positive direction to keep building on from here.
“We’ll keep our heads down, keep working hard and roll on to Tailem Bend for the enduro season with my good mate Nash.”
