Premiair Racing completed a demanding Saturday at Wanneroo Raceway, with two qualifying sessions and two 50-lap races providing plenty of action, strategy and hard-fought racing.
The day began with back-to-back qualifying sessions, with Race 23 proving particularly frustrating. Multiple red flag interruptions prevented both drivers from banking early flying laps, leaving them with just one opportunity to secure a place in Part 2. Despite showing encouraging pace, neither Declan Fraser nor Jayden Ojeda could crack the top 10.
The second qualifying session on the Super Soft compound offered a cleaner run, with both drivers improving their pace and narrowly missing progression into Part 2, providing confidence heading into the afternoon’s racing.
Race 23 saw both drivers working their way through the midfield in another strategic contest. Declan’s compulsory pit stop was hampered by a cross-threaded wheel nut on the left rear, but the Premiair Racing crew reacted quickly to minimise the time loss and keep him in contention. A late Safety Car created another strategic twist, with the team electing to stay out while several rivals opted for fresh tyres. Despite a spirited finish, both drivers slipped back in the closing laps, with Declan making a selfless move on the final lap by handing a position to Jayden to help him collect valuable championship points in his push towards the Supercars Finals Series.
The final race of the day was run on the Super Soft tyre and produced a much more encouraging result. After surviving a chaotic opening stint, the team committed to a four-tyre strategy during the compulsory pit stops, matching the trend across the field. Declan delivered one of his strongest drives of the season, climbing through the order to finish 12th and ending the race as the second-highest placed Chevrolet. Jayden continued to battle hard throughout the afternoon to bring his Camaro home in 18th.
While the outright results didn’t fully reflect the pace shown throughout the day, there were plenty of positives to take away. The team continued to improve the cars across the weekend, the pit crew responded well under pressure, and Declan’s performance in Race 24 provided a welcome confidence boost heading into Sunday’s final race.
Premiair Racing will now turn its attention to tomorrow, looking to build on the momentum gained during the closing stages of Saturday and finish the Perth Super440 on a high.

“All in all, it was a fairly solid Saturday for us. After running inside the top 10 yesterday, we would have liked to qualify there again, but we started today’s two races from 13th and 17th.
In the opening race, we ran 13th until the final lap before getting shuffled back, which was disappointing. The second race was much stronger. We held our ground against some tough competition and brought the car home in P12, so there are some positives to take from that.
The focus now is on refining the car ahead of qualifying tomorrow. Hopefully, we can take another step, make it into the Top 10 Shootout and get my first one under the belt.”

“It was a busy Saturday here in Perth, with two qualifying sessions and two races.
We lost a fair bit of confidence under brakes overnight, and with the parc fermé rules in place before the opening race, it was difficult to properly assess the car and get on top of what was happening.
The crew made some significant changes between the two races, and I felt we were in a better position for the second one. Unfortunately, a slow start from me and a slightly slow pit stop made things difficult. We tried to make the longer strategy work, but ultimately we’re still searching for that little bit extra from the #31.
There were some improvements across the day, but we’ve still got work to do to put ourselves in a stronger position tomorrow.”
