#31 AMONG 10 FOR COG TESTING AHEAD OF BATHURST

Supercars has moved quickly to restore order following last week’s parity storm at The Bend, with Centre of Gravity testing this week at Dunlop’s Melbourne facility and PremiAir Racing’s #31 Chevrolet Camaro is among the 10 cars selected.

Testing ran today, Tuesday and Wednesday, and covered all three manufacturers ahead of the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 8–11. The process is designed to ensure every car sits within the agreed parity parameters before the biggest race of the season.

A total of 10 cars tested:

– Four Camaros: #9 (Erebus), #15 and #20 (both Team 18), and #31 (PremiAir Racing)

– Three Mustangs: #6 (Tickford), #26 (Grove) and #888 (Triple Eight)

– Three Supras: #2 (Walkinshaw TWG), #8 and #14 (both Brad Jones Racing)

The inclusion of four Camaros rather than three reflects the impact that chassis age can have on Centre of Gravity figures. All of the selected Mustangs and Supras are new-for-2026 chassis, while each of the four Camaros, including the PremiAir #31 have raced in previous seasons.

The CoG testing follows a contentious week in which Chevrolet successfully lobbied for revised undertray skids, only for Supercars to subsequently clip the rear wing angle of all Camaros by 0.3 degrees after Ford teams pushed back hard raising concerns about the Teams Racing Charter process.

With those issues now heading into a formal review, the Centre of Gravity testing represents Supercars’ effort to ensure the technical baseline is accurate before Mount Panorama. Engine braking and barometric pressure are also expected to be assessed across all three manufacturers as part of the preparations for race week.

For PremiAir Racing, the findings could influence the Bathurst specification of both the #31 and #777, meaning the results of this week’s testing have a direct bearing on how the team lines up for Australia’s greatest race.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 runs October 8–11 at Mount Panorama.
