While no wheels were turned on-track, Wednesday the 9th of October in Bathurst has provided an exceptionally busy lead-in to tomorrow’s first official day of the 2024 Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama.
For PremiAir Nulon Racing, it has been a day full of media commitments and final pre-event preparations, explains Team Manager, Stephen Robertson.
“The day commenced for us before the sun had even risen, with the media team and Jimmy Golding on-track at 5.30am with new sponsor, Titanium Caravans, to film a special video which will be released tomorrow – so keep an eye out for that!” Robertson said.
“Other media commitments included many interviews for Jimmy, Tim Slade and even our team boss Peter Xiberras, who has been the centre of quite a lot of attention today thanks to the fact he will be making his own Bathurst debut this weekend in the V8 Sleuth Retro Revival.
“We weren’t restricted to the track either, with all the teams heading into town for what proved to be an immensely popular Track to Town, the first of its kind for Bathurst, which featured not only all the team Prime Movers, but also each and every Supercar driving from the track into the centre of town.
“Thousands upon thousands of fans lined the roads from the track into town to watch us drive by on our way to the historic Bathurst courthouse, and then were on-site for the Wednesday Night Street Party including Pit Stop Challenge, driver signing session and the launch of the TV broadcast for this huge event.
“The place was absolutely alive as the fans, drivers and teams celebrated ahead of what is the biggest event of our year, and there was certainly no shortage of talking points either – especially around today’s announced new format for the Supercars championship moving forward, which is something we are very excited about.
“Amidst all the interviews and opportunities, the PremiAir Nulon Racing team were also hard at work setting up the garage across the day, completing pit stop practice – including some important brake pad change run throughs which will be important come Sunday – and the all-important track walk was completed as well.
“While undertaking important final event planning on that track walk, it was also really heart-warming to see a number of fans all around the track reaching out to Tim with well wishes and even offers to join in on some trackside football following the recent announcement of his impending retirement.
“There’s no doubt it has been quite the busy day for us from before sun-up until after the sun set, and it has been a perfect way to kick off our Bathurst experience ahead of the Great Race.
“Now, with on-track action starting tomorrow, it is time to get down to business!”
PremiAir Nulon Racing will be on-track Thursday 10 October for Supercars practice one (all drivers – 1.20pm) and practice two (co-drivers only – 4.55pm), and also for the V8 Sleuth Retro Revival at 8.00am (practice), 11.25am (qualifying) and 4.20pm (race one).
