Before Jayden Ojeda, David Russell, Declan Fraser and Nash Morris can take to the most famous piece of bitumen in Australian motorsport, they first needed to pass a test.
A mandatory online safety test comprising 31 questions was distributed to all Supercars teams this week, with every driver competing in the Repco Bathurst 1000 required to complete it before setting foot on track at Mount Panorama.
And there is no margin for error. The Further Supplementary Regulations for the event are clear: “All Drivers Competing at this Event must complete the Motorsport Australia Driver Licence Refresher Test prior to the Event. To pass this test, you must get a result of 100%.”
The requirement is among a series of safety recommendations adopted by Motorsport Australia specific to the Bathurst circuit, following a difficult year at the Mountain. The 2026 12 Hour saw Mercedes driver Ralf Aron suffer a broken back in a heavy crash, while a controversial incident under yellow flags during the 6 Hour involving Grant Denyer and Richard Barram also drew significant attention.
The measures are designed to ensure every driver who takes to the iconic circuit — from Conrod Straight to The Chase — is fully across the latest safety protocols before the action begins.
Going forward, competitors in the Bathurst 12 Hour and 6 Hour are also expected to be required to complete the test.
For PremiAir Racing, that means all four drivers, Ojeda and Russell in the #31 Camaro, Fraser and Morris in the #777 have ticked off another item on the Bathurst checklist.
Now, it’s time to get to the Mountain.
Track action at the Repco Bathurst 1000 begins on Thursday, 8 October.
