Premiair Racing has wrapped up the Darwin Triple Crown with a determined performance in Race 19, overcoming a challenging qualifying session and executing differing race strategies across the team’s two Chevrolet Camaros.
The day began with qualifying on the soft compound tyre, with Jayden progressing through to Qualifying Part 2 after securing the final transfer position in a dramatic finish to the opening session. Despite a strong effort from the #31 crew to improve the car between sessions, the team faced a difficult battle to extract maximum performance from the tyre package throughout the morning.
With grid positions set, attention turned to the 200-kilometre, 70-lap Race 19 in warm Darwin conditions.
Both drivers made strong starts, with Declan immediately gaining positions before an early incident on Lap 2 dropped the #777 to the rear of the field. Following a review, the Stewards determined no further action would be taken regarding the incident.
From there, the team elected to split strategies across the two cars. Jayden became the first driver in the field to complete his opening pit stop, taking advantage of clear air and focusing on outright pace, while Declan ran a significantly longer first stint before making his first stop later in the race.
The contrasting approaches provided valuable strategic opportunities as the race unfolded, with both drivers continuing to push through changing track conditions and tyre degradation across the afternoon.
Premiair Racing’s pit crew again delivered a series of fast and faultless pit stops, helping both drivers maximise their race opportunities during the critical pit cycle phases.
A late-race Safety Car intervention neutralised the field and ultimately remained in place through to the chequered flag, bringing the Darwin Triple Crown to a close.
While the results did not fully reflect the effort invested throughout the weekend, the team leaves Darwin with valuable data and a clearer understanding of the soft tyre package. Attention now shifts to North Queensland and the next round of the Repco Supercars Championship, with the Townsville 500 scheduled in 18 days’ time.

“We didn’t live up to our own expectations this weekend. We felt we should have been solidly inside the top 10 in each race, and we weren’t, so we need to go away and understand what we could have done better.
We certainly expected more from the #777 car, and there were simply too many mistakes across the weekend. That’s not acceptable by our standards.
Now it’s about learning from it, improving and coming back stronger in Townsville. That’s what sport is all about.”

“It was a challenging Sunday for us here in Darwin. We just missed out on the Top 10 in qualifying, which put us on the back foot a little bit, and we came home P13 in the race.
I thought we executed the race really well. The pit stops were strong, the strategy was solid, and the team did a great job all day. We were just missing a little bit of outright speed in the car, and there are definitely a few areas where I can do a better job as well.
Even so, it’s been a really positive weekend overall. We’ve come away with a couple of top 10 finishes and a P13, so if this is one of our tougher days, there’s still plenty to be encouraged about.
We’ll go through everything, see where we can improve, and come back stronger at the next one.”
Declan Fraser – #777 PremiAir Racing Camaro
“It was a pretty tough Sunday for us. We qualified 18th, which obviously wasn’t where we wanted to be, and both cars were struggling a little bit for pace in qualifying.
The race started really well. I was aggressive in the opening laps and managed to make up a few spots, but unfortunately, I got turned around at Turn 5, which dropped us to the back of the field and left us with a lot of work to do.
On top of that, we were battling some gearbox issues for most of the race, but even with those problems, the car was really quick. The pace was strong, and we were able to work our way back through the field and recover to 18th by the finish.
Getting back to where we started isn’t the result we’re chasing, but there are definitely positives to take from the speed we showed. We’ll keep digging, keep working hard as a team, and come back ready to have another crack in Townsville.”
