LOOKING FOR STABILITY AT ADELAIDE 500

The highly anticipated season finale for the 2024 Supercars Championship is now officially underway, with one practice session for the racers held today on the challenging Adelaide 500 street circuit.

Following a single 30-minute practice session for today’s day one of what is a four day event, PremiAir Nulon Racing has identified stability as a major focus point for its #31 (P21) and #23 (P22) Camaros ahead of tomorrow’s practice two and qualifying.

Across the session, the team worked hard to complete an extensive race set-up preparation program for Jimmy Golding’s #31 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro and Tim Slade’s #23 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro.

While plenty of inroads were made, there is still plenty of work to do as the team seeks to maximise its potential while looking to secure a top five championship position for Golding and a successful farewell event for Slade, who is retiring from full-time competition this weekend.

Saturday’s practice two (1.05pm) and qualifying (5.30pm) will be followed by a big weekend of racing action, including practice three (10.00am), the Top Ten Shootout (12.35pm) and Race 23 (3.20pm) on Saturday 16 November, and qualifying (10.20am), a Top Ten Shootout (12.35pm) and Race 24 (3.15pm) on Sunday 17 November (all times local). QUOTEBOARD: ADELAIDE 500 – THURSDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2024

Ludo Lacroix – Competition Director, PremiAir Nulon Racing

“It was a bit of a challenging day. We are looking for stability on the way into the corners on both cars. We came here thinking we would need that so we made sure that we would have it, and we don’t have it. I think the grip is going to come up and the rear is definitely going to stick a bit more which will help us, but we need to move forward. We tried a couple of things in the passenger rides on both cars and hopefully tomorrow we can put the quali combo in and try and get both cars in the window for the Top Ten. We want to get both in there and that is a high ask, but that is what we are aiming for. For that we need good stability so that we can commit to the corners, and then we can see where we are from there.”

Jimmy Golding – #31 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro

“We didn’t have any problems in practice and it went smoothly, but it is not really where we wanted to start off with the cars and we didn’t really end up where we planned to with our roll-out. Obviously we will go over everything tonight, but I think we have a fair idea of what we need to do to make the car faster, so we will be changing it up for tomorrow. It is super tight out there as we know and practice one is not too indicative yet until we get closer to qualifying, so we will see how we go tomorrow.”

Tim Slade – #23 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro

“After so much waiting around it seemed like that session went by in a flash! From here on it is going to be flat out. We aren’t where we want to be (at the end of P1) but I think both Jimmy and I are saying the same things and want the same things from the cars. It is a bit of a carry over from last year and we came here with the set-up a little different from 2023 to try and target that problem area, but we will try a couple of different things tomorrow and hopefully make some inroads on that and get some more pace out of it.”
