MOVING FRIDAY PERFORMANCE AT MSS

DAY TWO OF MELBOURNE SUPERSPRINT

In Friday’s sole Supercars outing for the Melbourne SuperSprint, Declan Fraser and Jayden Ojeda made big moves in the #777 and #31 PremiAir Racing Camaros, making strong gains across the 19-lap Race 5 at Albert Park this afternoon.

Fraser delivered a tidy and mature drive in an all-green but often chaotic race, finishing just outside the top ten after starting deep in the pack.

From P20, the 25-year-old Gold Coaster jumped three spots off the start before progressing to P16 by lap 2. Following a brief shuffle back to P19 on lap 3 in the heat of battle, a resolute drive would see him climb his way back across the remaining 16 laps to be P12 by the time the checkered flags flew.

In the #31 PremiAir Racing Camaro, Ojeda was a big mover early from the rear of the grid, rising three positions to P21 off the start, was P16 by lap 3, and P14 by lap 10.

He looked set to challenge for the top ten, but as the race wore on the rear tyres of the #31 started to suffer. 26-year-old ‘Juice’ – making his Albert Park Supercars debut this weekend – persevered as best he could amidst a frenetic field, crossing the line P18.

QUOTEBOARD: MELBOURNE SUPERSPRINT AT THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX – FRIDAY 6 MARCH 2026

Declan Fraser – #777 PremiAir Racing Camaro

“It was a really solid race for us. It’s a long day for 19 laps, but the wait was worth it. We had plenty of time to review the data and footage from yesterday, and I said I needed to be more aggressive, especially off the start and restarts.

I feel like today we stood our ground, and that showed in the result, which I’m really happy with. To move forward over 19 laps from where we started is a strong effort.

Tyre deg was really good on our side. A few cars around us started to struggle late in the race, but we were able to come home strong. There’s still a bit of outright pace to unlock in the car, but the race pace itself is really promising.

Massive thanks to the team, they’ve done a great job.”

Jayden “Juice” Ojeda – #31 PremiAir Racing Camaro

“Yeah, we waited all day for that race and it was a pretty intense one. Everyone was on their best behaviour out there, which probably worked against us a bit.

We went slightly aggressive with the car balance and, over the longer run, that hurt us. The rears ended up delaminating, which made things pretty tricky toward the end. It’s frustrating because we made a strong start and gained some good ground early. The car felt quick and I felt like I was managing the slip well, but once the rears started to go, it became more about survival.

We’ll need to dig into why we ended up with the tyre issue, because there was genuine pace in the car. All in all, it was an eventful race we moved forward at times, then went backwards — but there are positives to take from it.”
