OJEDA IN FIVE-WAY FINALS BATTLE

Jayden Ojeda is now in the thick of a five-way battle for the final spots in the Repco Supercars Championship Finals, and the Repco Bathurst 1000 will decide it all.

With just two positions remaining undecided heading into the Great Race, just 87 points separate Ojeda and four other drivers in the fight for the last available Finals berths. After PremiAir Racing’s fifth-place finish at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend, a result that demonstrated exactly what the team is capable of in endurance conditions, Ojeda sits 13th in the championship standings with a -70 point margin to 10th-place Jack Le Brocq.

The battle for that final spot has been blown wide open by the Blanchard Racing Team’s double disqualification at The Bend, which dropped James Golding four places in the standings. That single event has transformed the contest; what was a remote mathematical chance for Ojeda has become a genuine shootout.

The five drivers in contention for Finals qualification are:

– 10th: Jack Le Brocq — 1,313 points (+62)

– 11th: André Heimgartner — 1,251 (-62)

– 12th: Thomas Randle — 1,250 (-63)

– 13th: Jayden Ojeda — 1,243 (-70)

– 14th: James Golding — 1,226 (-87)

All 5 drivers are within 87 points from a finals berth. With the Ryco Enduro Cup winner now unlikely to come from anyone further down the list, the Bathurst 1000 enduro points on offer represent a genuine opportunity for Ojeda to secure his place in the Finals.

It’s worth noting that David Russell, Ojeda’s co-driver in the #31 PremiAir Racing Chevrolet, has delivered podiums in each of his previous endurance appearances with the team. The combination of Russell’s Bathurst experience and the momentum built from The Bend’s P5 puts PremiAir in the best possible position for a race that could define Ojeda’s rookie season.

On the other side of the PremiAir garage, Declan Fraser sits 21st in the championship standings, 598 points below the cut line. Fraser and co-driver Nash Morris will be focused on delivering a strong race result and making a statement ahead of 2027.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 runs October 8–11 at Mount Panorama.
