With the Repco Bathurst 1000 just one week away, a significant parity development is shaping up that could directly affect PremiAir Racing’s #31 and #777 Camaros heading into the Great Race.
According to V8 Sleuth, it’s becoming clear that Chevrolet will make centre-of-gravity modifications to the Camaro following parity testing conducted by Supercars in the days after the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
Ten cars were scrutinised at Dunlop’s Melbourne factory, and while Supercars has yet to officially confirm its findings, V8 Sleuth understands a portion of the 4.4kg ballast added to the Camaro at the start of the season is set to be removed. Conversely, the Toyota Supra is set to receive a small ballast increase, while the Ford Mustang is expected to remain unchanged.
Any ballast reduction would directly affect both PremiAir entries at Bathurst. Combined with the Camaro’s already-reduced rear-wing angle, a change made during The Bend weekend amid the parity storm could alter weight distribution, straight-line performance, and the setups required for the #31 of Jayden Ojeda and David Russell, and the #777 of Declan Fraser and Nash Morris.
Bathurst adds another layer of complexity, with barometric pressure testing and potential one-off engine changes based on altitude still to be determined before track action begins.
Parity has been a red-hot topic throughout the second half of the 2026 season. Ford homologation team Triple Eight has called for more analysis into recent Chevrolet changes, a position shared by Grove Racing, meaning the debate is far from settled.
What is certain is that the Camaro’s reduced rear-wing angle may now carry the unintended consequence of increased straight-line speed along Bathurst’s long straights- something that could work in PremiAir’s favour as cars hurtle down Conrod Straight and through the Chase.
Track action at the Repco Bathurst 1000 gets underway on Thursday, 8 October.
