PETER PREVIEWS A BIG MONTH

ACTION-PACKED APRIL: PETER PREVIEWS A BIG MONTH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TASMAN

There is no doubt that April is going to be big for PremiAir Racing, with plenty happening for us across the month on both sides of the Tasman.

With Supercars’ back-to-back rounds at New Zealand’s Taupō and Christchurch coming up, plus my own racing plans at the Bathurst 6 Hour the weekend before, there is a lot going on as we move into this next phase of 2026.

On the Supercars front, our recent test day at Queensland Raceway was really valuable for both of our drivers – Jayden Ojeda and Declan Fraser – and our entire team, giving us a strong opportunity to keep learning and make sure we are as prepared as possible heading into New Zealand.

There are a lot of positives behind the scenes, even if the results sheets of 2026 are not quite painting the full picture so far, and we are happy to be taking significant steps forward. Crucial in this is the huge amount of experience Roland Dane has brought to the team, and there is definitely strong potential in what we are putting together.

It will take time, of course, as everyone continues to gel and we keep learning, but we are heading in the right direction, and the foundations are getting stronger every week. That has us all very excited as we get ready to race across the Tasman at the Taupō 440 and Christchurch 440 events.

Racing in New Zealand always presents a unique challenge, and the back-to-back nature of these events ups the ante even further with basically no turnaround time between them. Keeping our noses clean will be vital, as big damage here has even larger consequences than at home. The tracks themselves demand precision and confidence, with fast sections and technical sequences – and with limited practice time, rolling out strong will be critical.

While I will not personally be at Taupō due to business commitments, I will be keeping a close eye on everything from Australia. With a talented group of people in place, I have full confidence in the team to get the job done, and of course I cannot wait to be back trackside with them for the Christchurch event.

Before I do that, I will be making my own return to the driver’s seat this weekend – competing in the Bathurst 6 Hour in a Toyota 86 alongside two of my mates, Chad Parrish and Doug Westwood. While I have my fair share of laps around Mount Panorama after racing in the Heritage Revival back in 2024 at the Bathurst 1000, this will be my first time as an entrant in the Bathurst 6 Hour, and I am really looking forward to this new challenge.

It is obvious to everyone that I love to go racing, and I think being in the car gives you a different perspective. At the end of the day though, my focus is always on the team and making sure we are moving forward – we are really building something here, and everyone is putting in the work; now it is about continuing to take steps forward.

April is set to be exceptionally busy, but we are ready for the challenge – let’s go racing!
