PETER PREVIEWS DARWIN TRIPLE CROWN

HAPPY HUNTING GROUND: PETER PREVIEWS THE DARWIN TRIPLE CROWN.

The Darwin Triple Crown sees PremiAir Racing return to the site of our breakthrough pole position, secured by Jimmy Golding at last year’s running of the event.

It has been great lately to see Jimmy with a car under him with which he can fight up the front, so hopefully he and the #31 PremiAir Racing Camaro can grab pole again upon our return to the Hidden Valley Raceway this weekend and then drive away from the rest of the field come the race start.

We head to Darwin after an extended stay in Perth after the Perth Super 440 – I stayed on for a few days for business, while the mechanics remained until Tuesday to service the cars and load the truck, ready for Mick to make the road trip from Perth to Darwin – and while I am here, let me say a big thank you to Mick for undertaking the big journey for us from Brisbane to Perth to Darwin and then home again!

In Darwin, we will once again sport special liveries for Supercars’ Indigenous round, and we are looking forward to unveiling these on Tuesday evening. As a team we are very excited to take the covers off the new look and look forward to telling you more about the design upon the unveil tomorrow night.

When it comes time to get on-track from Friday, we will be undertaking a racing format similar to that we had in Perth – two smaller sprint-style races on the Saturday and a more traditional-length race on the Sunday.

As it always is in this ever-competitive field, starting positions will be crucial, and that means we need to focus on making essential improvements in our qualifying pace so we can start the races at Hidden Valley on the best possible foot.

It is no secret that of late while we have been competitive come Sunday, we have been a bit slow to start, and that is something we are actively working to change – if we can be on the front foot from the start, lining up further up the grids and with more car pace and handling at our disposal from earlier in the weekend, we will be able to start taking home more of those podiums like I know we are capable of, and just maybe, our first win.

As the host venue of our first-ever pole position, Darwin is undoubtedly a special place for us as a team, and it is for me as I wrapped up my second Australian Top Fuel Championship at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip in 2023. Richie’s best result in Darwin from two appearances is 10th in last year’s race two, and as well as the pole position last year Jimmy was just off the podium in fourth place for both races – how great would it be to go even further this weekend; rest assured we are doing all we can to make that happen!

Across the weekend, we will be chronicling our progress on the PremiAir Racing WhatsApp channel, powered by Air & Allied Sales, so if you want to keep up to date with all the news and views across the event from our team, I recommend you check that out.

Don’t forget too that our partners, Nulon, are still running that promotion to win the ultimate VIP experience at the 2025 Singapore GP. Make sure you check out www.nulon.com.au/win for all the details and Ts and Cs.

See you in Darwin!
