As we head into the Townsville 500, there is a real sense of focus within our team about continuing to build momentum and execution across all areas. Every event on this calendar presents its own challenges, and Townsville is always one that tests you in multiple ways, but we arrive prepared and clear on what we need to deliver.
Looking back at the previous round, there were several positives we can take confidence from, particularly in the progress we are making behind the scenes and the way the team is continuing to gel. At the same time, we are realistic about the areas that need improvement. We know that qualifying remains a key focus for us, and converting our work into consistent race results is the next step. The effort across the board has been strong, and it is now about refining our execution under pressure.
Townsville presents a unique challenge with its street circuit characteristics. It is a track that demands precision and commitment, with little room for error. The surface can be unforgiving, and managing tyre life across a stint is always critical here. Track position is typically at a premium, so maximising our qualifying performance will be key to setting up our races. With limited practice time, getting the car into the right window early will be essential.
From a driver’s perspective, both Declan and Jayden continue to show the right approach. They are working hard with their engineers, applying themselves in all the right areas, and building their understanding of what it takes to extract performance across a full race weekend. For Declan, it is about continuing to build consistency and making the most of opportunities as they come. For Jayden, the focus is on clean execution and continuing to develop his race craft in these conditions. We are confident in both of them, and it is now about putting complete weekends together.
Operationally, the team has been working hard to ensure we are better prepared each time we hit the track. The gains we are making are not always immediately visible in the results, but they are important and they are building a stronger foundation for us moving forward. Our preparation, communication, and processes are continuing to improve, and that will translate over time.
We understand where we sit in the championship and what is required to move forward. There are no shortcuts in this category, and we are committed to doing the work properly. The Townsville 500 is another important opportunity for us to take a step forward, execute to a higher standard, and continue building towards where we know we can be.
We approach this round with measured expectations, but also with confidence in the direction we are heading. If we can put together a clean and consistent weekend, we will give ourselves the best chance to come away with a solid result.
