PREMIAIR RACING READY TO TAKE ON THE WEST THIS WEEKEND
The new-look PremiAir Racing Top Fuel Dragster is more powerful than ever and ready to hit the track for round three of the 2024/2025 NDRC Top Fuel Championship this weekend at the 54th annual Westernationals.
The 1-2 March event at the Perth Motorplex follows the last round of the title chase, Willowbank Raceway’s New Year Nitro, where Peter Xiberras and his crew took home the B-Final win despite dealing with problems linked to new-found power in their 11,000hp racing machine.
Now, the team says they have that power harnessed and ready to roll this weekend as they look to recapture their past record-breaking success in the West.
“We have been developing a whole different combination recently and at New Year Nitro, it really woke up,” Xiberras said.
“It is exceptionally powerful, exceptionally fast – in fact, it is so fast now that the changes we would have made in the past to slow it down were nowhere near big enough, which is where you saw us struggle at the last round.
“It was a good problem to have, and we head to Perth with a plan in place to take that power and turn it into proper, full candle passes down the full 1000ft distance.
“We have set track and national records at the ‘Plex before, and I am confident we can do that again while challenging for A-Final victories. Here’s hoping we can make that happen this weekend.”
This weekend’s event requires a swift focus shift for Xiberras, whose PremiAir Racing team also fields two Camaros in the Supercars Championship which share a new for 2025 livery with the Top Fuel Dragster.
“It is a quick turnaround for me for sure from Sydney at the weekend to heading over to Perth to go Top Fuel racing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Xiberras said.
“While a little bumpy at times, we walked away from Sydney with two top ten results to start our 2025 season, and it sure was great to see the new-look in action.
“The Camaros looked pretty slick on-track, and I can’t wait to get the new look on the Top Fueler out in front of the fans at the Perth Motorplex too – hopefully they love it as much as we do.”
