STRONG START TO SANDOWN FOR PREMIAIR RACING
Day one of the Sandown 500 has brought a strong start for PremiAir Racing and its two drivers – incumbent Jimmy Golding who snagged the team’s first podium at this track back in 2024, and new signing Jayden Ojeda, who is turning his first “full-time” Supercars laps this weekend.
Two 30-minute practice sessions were on the docket for the Supercars field today at the iconic Sandown International Raceway, ahead of twin 250km races which will unfold across Saturday and Sunday.
For Golding, the first session was about the race car, with his quickest lap landing him P14 on the timing totem, while the focus switched to qualifying set-up in practice two. In that session on green tyres, he brought the #31 PremiAir Racing Camaro up to P5 with the team reporting they feel confident of a top ten result in Saturday’s race based on today’s performances.
For Ojeda, it was all about getting comfortable and familiar in the #62 PremiAir Racing Camaro, with setting up a qualifying trim in these cars in particular a new experience. Making his first laps as a ‘main game’ driver this weekend, Ojeda put in a solid learning effort in practice one (P22) before turning heads in the second practice, where he benefited from an extra set of greens as part of the team’s process of getting him up to speed – sitting near the top for a portion of the session before settling to P12 as the clock counted down.
Saturday’s Sandown 500 Supercars action will commence with a 30-minute qualifying session at 11.50am, followed by the Top Ten Shootout at 12.40pm, and the first 250km race of the weekend at 3.20pm. Sunday will then repeat that format, with qualifying at 11.20am, the shootout at 12.10pm, and the race start at 3.20pm. For full event and scheduling information, visit www.supercars.com

QUOTEBOARD: SANDOWN 500, FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2025
Ludo Lacroix – Competition Director, PremiAir Racing
“It was an interesting day. We finished on a high today but we put a lot of effort into it. We may have burned a set of tyres more than others but I think that is what we needed to do anyway for Ojeda. He has done a good job; he has adapted quite nicely. Tomorrow, if we were to be P12 we would be happy tomorrow, but with the competitiveness – it is a very competitive track and championship – I will be happy if he is in the top 15. He is showing some element of understanding of the car, some element of trying to get better at things he doesn’t do right from the first time, so there is a lot of improvement possible in him I think and he is doing a very good job at trying to manage his little issues on track. He is going very well with Gilly – that was a very easy session, with very little change, and that proves actually the fact that sometimes there is more in driving the car than changing every session, every second, everything all the time. So, for him that was a very good session. Jimmy is back where he was last year in my opinion, on this particular track and with the car we have in general, with good top speed, good braking. We have to work a little bit in the corners, there are a couple of corners we can probably improve, but I think he is a top ten tomorrow, we just need to do a good session. And tomorrow we all are on the super soft, where today we all ran on the soft tyre. So, tomorrow is a brand new day and we will have to adapt to the different tyre – nobody has touched it today. We will probably have a little bit of rain over night but by the time we get on track I think it will be gone.”
Jimmy Golding – #31 PremiAir Racing Camaro
“I was feeling pretty good out there. We just ran through our plan for practice one mostly focusing on the race car and then the qualifying car in practice two there. I am feeling pretty confident in both set ups, we just have to tweak the car for how we think the track is going to be tomorrow, it is never the same every time you go on track so all about getting it right for the conditions. But overall feeling pretty good.”
Jayden Ojeda – #62 PremiAir Racing Camaro
“It was a really cool first day with the team at PremiAir Racing. There was just a lot of ergonomic (work) and just making myself comfortable both in the driver’s seat with the setup, and with the people with a lot of new faces, so just getting used to all of that. I am really happy with how we finished the day, P12 in the final session. I was just getting used to the qualifying car – after coming from co-driver land where we only ever have the car in race trim, I was just focusing on phasing the tyre at the right point in the lap. A really happy first day.”
