The Adelaide 500 will not only be a hotly anticipated conclusion to the 2024 Supercars Championship season, it will be a hot, full stop!
This event can be challenging due to the heat, and this year’s instalment across November 14-17 is sure to be no different, creating difficult conditions for the crew and the drivers.
This is especially the case when you take into account the long, demanding style of the races and the fact that there is no minimum fuel drop, so we will be looking at ‘fuel to tyre’ for both of the compulsory pit stops in each race, which requires the team to be focused entirely while sporting their fireproof suits all day.
Adding to the challenge is that this track is another concrete canyon, being very similar to the Gold Coast in that respect, with walls that feel far too close around the circuit in some places.
Despite all that, this event can be fantastic and is one we all look forward to.
The crowd is great, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the racing tends to be top-notch – of course, being the last race of the year, everyone gives it their all and leaves absolutely nothing on the table.
Jimmy has shown strong performance at Adelaide, making three of the four Top Ten Shootouts that have been held there since he joined us and holding a best race finish of 10th place in race two of the 2022 event.
Last year, we got caught up in incidents caused by others, and with Jimmy well-positioned to finish fifth in the championship in the #31 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro, we are hoping we can avoid the carnage and race through for a solid result to finish out his year this weekend.
At the same time, it would be wonderful to give Tim a memorable finish to his full-time driving career this weekend in the #23 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaro, and this is something we are all working very hard to achieve.
With the best race results of 4th (2019 race 2) and 5th (2022 race 1) to his name here, Sladey knows how to get it done around the streets of Adelaide, and as a South Aussie, to be able to give him a strong result at home would be extra special for all of us.
We will also be welcoming a new partner onboard for the weekend, with NAPA Auto Parts joining our team on both the #31 and #23 PremiAir Nulon Racing Camaros – hopefully, we can bring home some strong results this weekend for them and all of our other valued supporters to close out the year.
See you in Adelaide!
