Peter Xiberras and the PremiAir Racing Top Fuel team will make their debut at Alice Springs Inland Dragway this week as the back-to-back and reigning Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Champions begin their title defence.
This Thursday and Friday (September 1 and 2), Alice Springs Inland Dragway will host the opening round of the new 2022/2023 Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship season, as part of Red CentreNATS.
While they have never raced at Alice Springs Inland Dragway before, Xiberras and the team are feeling confident as they prepare to kick off their title defence in a winning fashion.
“Last season we took out our second consecutive national Top Fuel title and remarkably, we did it without winning an event – it all came down to our consistency with constant runner-up results across the season,” Xiberras explained.
“This season, we want to not only defend our title for a three-peat, but we also want to claim some event trophies along the way!
“We have been unable to do any off-season testing due to rain disrupting our plans, but as always the crew’s preparation has been meticulous, and I am confident we can have a very strong showing in Alice Springs this week.”
PremiAir Racing Top Fuel Crew Chief, Tim Adams, said the team is looking forward to making their mark in Alice Springs.
“Any time that we head to a race track we haven’t been before it is very exciting and we are all extra motivated to ensure that we leave our mark in the best possible way,” Adams said.
“From what we hear, the local fans are very excited about Top Fuel coming to Alice Springs and with the event being part of the Red CentreNATS event, a huge crowd is expected.
“We can’t wait to put on a show for the fans in Alice Springs and hopefully come away with the winners’ trophy and the best possible start to our title defence!”
